Alvarez & Marsal Appoints Digital Turnaround Specialist to Strengthen its Corporate Transformation Business
London – Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (“A&M”), has appointed David Moss as a Managing Director, based in London. Mr. Moss re-joins A&M’s Corporate Transformation Services, bringing more than 30 years’ experience in operational turnaround and restructuring, both as a business leader and as an advisor.
With the ever-increasing prevalence of technology in businesses across sectors, all transformations now involve a digital aspect. Mr. Moss’s expertise in operational turnaround and restructuring in both downturn and growth scenarios and his specialisation in the technology sector will enable A&M to strengthen its offer to clients and deliver practical solutions during the transformation process.
Mr. Moss has spent the last nine years in the technology sector, initially at Skype, which was owned by Silver Lake Partners (a global technology-based private equity firm), and which was subsequently bought by Microsoft. At Skype, Mr. Moss led commercial and customer facing operations globally, as well as transformation, including scaling the business, making it data-driven, and implementing agile ways of working.
Following this role, he was COO of a Carlyle-owned global software business, where he was responsible for operational and organisational restructuring as well as all software engineering, operations and delivery. Mr. Moss has also led three start-ups as either operational leader or investor, including raising money from private equity for a technology solution.
His expertise will complement Corporate Transformation Services’ strong capabilities in European markets, where he will be working with Dhruv Sarda and Patrick Siebert, Managing Directors based in London and Hamburg respectively, helping European disrupted businesses address the challenges of turnaround and transformation.
He also brings a deep understanding of A&M’s offer, having previously spent six years at the firm as a Managing Director when A&M first formed its European Performance Improvement practice, working across the software, TV production and manufacturing sectors.
Malcolm McKenzie, Managing Director and European Corporate Transformation Services practice lead, commented: “I am delighted to welcome David back to A&M. His expertise in digital and technology will be invaluable to our clients, and his appointment reaffirms A&M’s ability to adapt to clients’ needs and offer real insight, leadership and practical solutions to complex business issues.”
David Moss, Managing Director at A&M, commented: “I am so pleased to be rejoining the firm at such an exciting time in its growth. Technology is an often over-looked but crucial part of the transformation process and I am looking forward to working with old and new colleagues to provide clients with the expertise they need in this increasingly complex area.”
