Madrid, 30 June 2026 – Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has strengthened its leadership team in Iberia with the appointment of three new Managing Directors for 3 different practices: Emilio Capela in Digital Transformation Services; Javier Gazulla in TAX; and João Currito as at the Global Infrastructure & Capital Projects team.

These appointments further consolidate A&M’s growth in Iberia and expand the firm’s capabilities in strategic areas for its clients, including GenAI-enabled digital transformation, TAX structuring for investments and complex transactions, and the operational optimisation of infrastructure assets.

Emilio Capela brings more than 20 years of experience in digital transformation, growth and operational efficiency, with a particular focus on GenAI. Throughout his career, he has worked with clients across sectors including banking, insurance, retail and private equity, leading projects in digital growth, operations, technology and strategy. Prior to joining A&M, he was Operating Partner at GPF Partners and previously spent much of his career in international strategy consulting, where he led digital growth teams. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from ICAI Madrid.

Javier Gazulla joins A&M’s TAX practice with more than 25 years of experience in taxation. He specialises in tax structuring for investments, debt restructurings, corporate reorganisations, international taxation and wealth planning. Throughout his career, he has advised multinationals and investment funds on M&A transactions, investments and restructuring processes, and has held senior leadership roles in international professional services firms and leading law firms. He also teaches specialist tax courses in postgraduate programmes at Universidad Carlos III and the University of Navarra. He holds a degree in Law and Business from ICADE.

João Currito joins A&M’s global Infrastructure & Capital Projects team, where he will help strengthen the firm’s capabilities in Asset Optimisation and Operational Risk Management. With 30 years of international experience, he has worked across sectors including natural resources, manufacturing, transport, logistics and distribution, financial services and utilities. His expertise focuses on improving operational performance, process efficiency, the design and implementation of management models, and the deployment of digital solutions to increase productivity and deliver sustainable operational and financial results. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Strathclyde University in Glasgow.

As A&M Iberia continues its growth trajectory, these appointments further strengthen the firm's leadership and capabilities, bringing the team to nearly 40 Managing Directors and reinforcing its service lines with senior industry and functional expertise.
