Alvarez & Marsal Strengthens North American Automotive and Industrials Group

Tony Lynch brings to A&M his skills in helping companies strengthen financials and restructuring processes

Detroit – Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has expanded its North American Automotive and Industrials Group and Aerospace, Defense & Aviation practice with the appointment of Anthony “Tony” Lynch as a Managing Director. The hiring of Mr. Lynch, who has deep expertise in optimizing manufacturers’ processes and finances, will strengthen A&M’s capabilities to help automotive and aerospace and defense companies achieve end-to-end operational and financial improvements.

With more than 35 years of experience in the automotive and aerospace industries, Mr. Lynch has designed and implemented strategies that improved manufacturing networks, operating models, plant operations, supply chain and cost structures. He has helped companies adopt and deploy digital manufacturing techniques. For instance, Mr. Lynch led a significant initiative that delivered more than $125 million in annual savings and designed and implemented a program that produced $8 billion in total savings.

Mr. Lynch’s appointment follows the recent hiring of Managing Directors Rick Kozole, leader of A&M’s North American Automotive and Industrials Group, and James Marceau, a senior leader in A&M’s Aerospace, Defense & Aviation practice. The combined expertise of Messr. Marceau, Kozole and Lynch strengthens A&M’s capabilities to help clients meet current and future sector challenges. Their deep knowledge of complex value chain issues, financial performance improvement, innovation and growth across the business and enterprise lifecycle will help clients drive change and maximize value.

“The automotive industry is at a critical juncture. Revenues have dropped precipitously at a time when the industry is most in need of capital. The ability to invest in innovation and adapt to evolving fundamentals, such as retooling plants to produce electric and autonomous vehicles, is key to ensuring the sector’s sustainability and vibrancy,” said Mr. Kozole. “Similarly, the aerospace and defense industries are coping with lack of capital at a time when they need to invest in supporting innovation.”

He added: “The automotive, aerospace and defense, and industrial companies face profound challenges and must adapt to rapid changes transforming their industries. Tony’s track record of helping manufacturers strengthen their financial position while improving and restructuring their processes bolsters our ability to develop results-oriented solutions that help our clients address these critical challenges.”

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Lynch was a Managing Director at Accenture, where he helped clients design and implement strategies for digital manufacturing and intelligent supply chain. He also served for nearly 14 years as a Senior Director in the Manufacturing Center of Excellence at A.T. Kearney. Before he began his consulting career, Mr. Lynch worked in computer-aided design and manufacturing.

Mr. Lynch earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
