The practice welcomes market leader Mark Cunanan as Managing Director to head offering in the region
London, February 5, 2025 – Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal’s Global Transaction Advisory Group (Global TAG) announces today its new Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) Services as part of its wider EMEA offering, and proudly appoints London-based Mark Cunanan as a Managing Director to lead the offering for clients across the region. With his decades-long expertise in SPA and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in both European and North American engagements, Mr. Cunanan’s leadership in the new offering will enhance Alvarez & Marsal’s ability to deliver value-driven solutions to both corporate and private equity (PE) clients – helping them create and preserve value through M&A transactions.
Mr. Cunanan spent 20 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in respective appointments in Paris, London, and Toronto, where he helped clients navigate the M&A environment and achieve transaction objectives as purchase price and SPA issues and risks grew in complexity. He specializes in negotiating the financial aspects of SPAs, enterprise-to-equity value analysis, and assistance in the preparation, review, or dispute of post-completion SPA purchase price adjustments. Before joining A&M, Mr. Cunanan co-led the SPA Advisory practice at Grant Thornton in London.

Throughout his career, Mr. Cunanan has worked extensively with both top- and mid-tier PE firms and corporates across a wide range of industries, including technology, media, consumer goods, industrial products, education, and real estate. His in-depth knowledge also extends to financial covenants in loan agreements and deal accounting issues under IFRS, as well as U.S., French, and UK GAAP standards.
