Alvarez & Marsal Tax Strengthens Its Capabilities with the Launch of the Global Corporate Transaction Tax and Advisory Practice
The practice welcomes five new Managing Directors to support complex cross-border transactions and drive strategic value for clients amid accelerating global M&A activity
New York, NY — October 6, 2025 — Alvarez & Marsal Tax (A&M Tax), an affiliate of leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), today announced the launch of its Global Corporate Transaction Tax and Advisory (CTTA) practice. The new practice addresses rising demand for sophisticated tax planning and enhances A&M’s capabilities to support corporate clients in executing strategic M&A transactions.
The CTTA practice is led by Managing Director Elizabeth Arrendale, who brings extensive experience from her tenure leading the Transaction Tax Advisory practice at a Big Four firm. She will build and lead a global team focused on delivering integrated, end-to-end tax services that align with clients’ strategic priorities.
Joining Ms. Arrendale are Managing Directors Brian Reed, Bryan Glanzberg, Leland Cleland, and Torsdon Poon—all former Big Four tax partners. Together, they bring decades of experience advising on high-stakes, cross-border transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, spin-offs, and joint ventures. Their expertise also encompasses internal restructuring transactions, global tax planning, effective tax rate and cash tax planning, and operating model and supply chain strategies. Combined with A&M’s existing M&A capabilities, the CTTA team has immediate scale and a bench of talented practitioners to propel the practice.
“Elizabeth is joining our practice at a time of incredible growth, and I am confident in her ability to build and lead this practice,” said Ernesto ‘Ernie’ Perez, Global Practice Leader of A&M Tax. “I have seen, in a short period, her collaborative spirit, commitment to excellence and an ambition that aligns with our mindset and strategy. This whole team is top tier. CTTA is the culmination of a vision to offer a differentiated premier option to corporate clients and a milestone for the practice.”
The CTTA core capabilities include:
- M&A Tax Structuring: Designing tax-efficient structures for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, spin-offs, and joint ventures.
- Tax Due Diligence: Identifying risks and opportunities prior to closing.
- Post-Deal Integration: Optimizing tax outcomes through integration, legal entity rationalization, IP alignment, and supply chain efficiency.
- Internal Restructuring: Reorganizing corporate structures to improve efficiency or prepare for future transactions.
- Cross-Border Planning: Navigating international tax laws to efficiently restructure and minimize tax exposure in an evolving global tax landscape.
- Tax Modeling & Forecasting: Supporting decision-making with scenario-based tax impact analysis.
CTTA will work closely with A&M’s Corporate Transactions Group (CTG), to deliver seamless offerings across diligence, structuring, integration, separation, and tax accounting. The combined strength of CTG and CTTA - both rich in sector expertise - enables clients to execute complex, transformational deals with confidence.
“When we started CTG over a year ago, we were challenging the consulting paradigm,” said Preston Parker, Managing Director and Leader, Corporate Transactions Group. “The addition of CTTA furthers A&M’s ability to offer a differentiated service to our clients. We have combined thinking around the confluence of tax, operations, and financial diligence in a way that our competitors are either constrained by regulation and conflict or lack capability. All the while, we bring depth around industry and understand the nuance of industry, be it Consumer and Retail, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Energy, Technology, FS, or Industrials. Elizabeth and the team will complement our experience and ability to deliver.”
Tony Alvarez II, Alvarez & Marsal’s co-founder, reflected on the distinctive attributes that set the firm apart, “In these dynamic times, uncertainty permeates the corporate M&A landscape. We are the only firm positioned to offer the market a combination of best-in-class tax talent and best-in-class operational talent with the ability to execute, offering a mix of solutions that nobody else has.”
