Leland Cleland

Mr. Cleland’s main focus is advising on the tax implications of cross-border transactions, including acquisitions, post-acquisition integrations, spin-offs, internal reorganizations, and cross-border treasury and financing transactions. He has been recognized for his technical tax expertise and creative solution development.
Mr. Cleland has more than 40 years of professional experience, including over 30 years of experience working in international tax and cross-border transactions. He has collaborated extensively with Fortune 100 executives, defining and explaining global tax strategies.
Mr. Cleland’s spin-off experience includes the global separation and spin-off of a $25 billion drug business, a $12 billion high-tech service business, and a $11 billion animal health business. His acquisition experience encompasses the acquisition and global integration of a $67 billion pharmaceutical company, a $30 billion high-tech service and manufacturing business, and a $35 billion integrated oil and gas company. Mr. Cleland has also been involved in various internal restructurings, supply chain restructurings, and holding company transactions, ranging from a $20 billion consumer gaming company to a $3 billion entertainment group.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Cleland worked at EY for more than 30 years, specializing in international tax and cross-border transactions.
Mr. Cleland earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wayne State University, Detroit, and a master’s degree in taxation from Walsh College, Troy, Michigan. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Michigan Association of CPAs as well as the Texas Society of CPAs.
