• Javier Hernando appointed as Managing Director in Madrid to strengthen the firm’s CFO Services capabilities.

Madrid, 4 November 2025 – Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Javier Hernando as a Managing Director in its Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) practice, based in Madrid.

With a strong track record partnering with CFOs and treasury teams to unlock value and deliver finance transformation, Javier’s appointment builds on A&M’s well-established CFO Services capability within its Performance Improvement practice, both for private-equity owned companies and corporates. His appointment marks the fourth new PEPI Managing Director hire in the past four months, following the arrivals of Simon Oertel from EY-Parthenon and Pierre de Raismes from Bain and Co in September, and David Perez from BCG in June. This continued investment reflects A&M’s commitment to expand our value creation offering across Europe, ensuring clients benefit from comprehensive, integrated support across the deal and value creation lifecycle.

Mr. Hernando joins from PwC, where he spent 11 years as Partner in the Financial Function and Corporate Treasury practice. He has advised CFOs and finance leaders on strategy, working capital optimisation and treasury transformation. He has led multiple large-scale programmes across planning, control and performance management, helping organisations strengthen financial resilience and unlock value. Alongside his client work, he teaches finance and leadership at IE Business School and IE University.

As part of A&M’s CFO Services team, within the wider PEPI practice in the Iberia region, Javier will support clients to drive performance improvement, transform financial operations, and deliver sustainable value creation, building on the firm’s established performance improvement capabilities in the region.
