Mr. Nimwegen has worked on numerous restructuring situations, performance improvement cases and corporate reorganizations for private equity investors, lenders, shareholders and corporates in various industries across Europe.
On his last engagement, Mr. Nimwegen prepared an orderly wind down plan for the portfolio company of an international private equity fund. He led the work on the ground, primarily including the preparation of different wind down / sale scenarios and the assessment of financial and operational implications. This also comprised the preparation of indicative timelines and key actions within a liquidation.
Mr. Nimwegen was involved in a business plan and cash flow review of an international telecommunications company on behalf of the Senior Lender Group. The work included a thorough analysis of the topline and its main drivers (projects), the margin structure as well as management's mitigating actions in order to stabilize the cash situation.
Additionally, he implemented a group-wide short-term cash flow forecast for an international automotive supplier. Mr. Nimwegen led the project office for production facilities in Germany and the Czech Republic, including measures to reduce headcount, SG&A cost, working capital and a structural reorganization of the business.
Mr. Nimwegen worked on a turnaround of the European division of a U.S. listed entity, with achieved savings of €90 million. He led the project management office to close down operations in nine countries (i.e. the Nordics, Eastern Europe and Portugal). Activities included the reduction of all staff through social plans, bi-lateral negotiations or transfer to third parties. He was also involved with the transition of international clients to local service providers and various operational wind down activities.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Nimwegen was an Assistant Director with Deloitte in London, Düsseldorf and Toronto where he was involved in several high-profile international cross-border restructurings as well as corporate reorganizations of medium-sized entities.
Mr. Nimwegen studied business economics at the University of Münster where he earned a master's degree (Diplom-Kaufmann) and a Ph.D. A German national, he is fluent in German and English.
