Markus Schmid

Mr. Schmid’s primary areas of concentration are operational restructuring, delivering holistic turnaround initiatives and acting a Chief Restructuring Officer or Chief Technology Officer in distressed situations in Germany and internationally. He has supported complex restructuring and turnaround processes at large international groups of companies and mid-sized businesses, and has brought complex post-merger integration and carve-outs to a successful conclusion.
Mr. Schmid is an acknowledged expert in executing complex workforce reduction programs both in Germany and across multiple jurisdictions. He has worked with clients in various industries, including telecommunication, media, technology, services, automotive, retail/e-commerce and manufacturing.
Recently, Mr. Schmid acted as a CRO in an international e-commerce conglomerate during the financial and operational restructuring. Previously, he served in a European IT/Cloud/service company as CRO during their holistic turnaround and restructuring.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Schmid was Managing Director and Co-Head of Transformation Services in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with Kearney. Before that, he was a Managing Director, member of the executive board and leader of the Restructuring and Post-Merger Division of Goetzpartners. Previously, Mr. Schmid was Co-CEO with the marketing and communications agency PACT Group; CEO of TeleColumbus, Primacom and Sky Austria; and CCO and CMO at Sky Germany. He began his career at Andersen Consulting.
Mr. Schmid earned a master’s degree in engineering from Ulm University of Applied Sciences and an MBA (Diplom-Kaufmann) from the University of Würzburg. A German national, he is fluent in German and English.
