Jacopo Barontini

Mr. Barontini has extensive experience advising clients and stakeholders in stressed and distressed situations in both private and listed companies. His primary areas of concentration are domestic and cross-border restructurings, refinancings and reorganisations, and advising corporate clients and lenders/borrowers in complex transactions. Mr. Barontini has worked with clients in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail, industrial products and construction, fashion and luxury, and agriculture.
As a financial restructuring practitioner, Mr. Barontini has advised corporate clients and lenders in both in-court and out-of-court restructurings, with or without an M&A transaction. Recently, he was involved in Weichai’s restructuring of Italian operations, the Schneider Group financial restructuring, Prometeon Group advisory for lenders, the Fintyre restructuring, ICM Group, the Damac acquisition of Roberto Cavalli, Gruppo Messina, Norwegian Cruise Lines, AC Milan, Il Sole 24 Ore among others.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Barontini was a Partner with the Financial Restructuring Practice at Deloitte. There he helped build the Restructuring Service Line as a stand-alone practice in Italy and was responsible for the development and launch of the creditor advisory service line. He was the Italian member of the EMEA Restructuring Team that included the leading team members of the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Switzerland.
Previously, Mr. Barontini led the Italian team assisting FCA Group in the Chrysler LLC alliance and was the lead partner in charge of one the largest in-court restructurings in Italy (Fondazione San Raffaele). Prior to that, he contributed to the launch and development of Atlantis Capital Special Situations, one of the first special situations private equity funds in Italy, with assets under management of +€100 millions.
Mr. Barontini earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florence, Italy. He is a Chartered Accountant (Ordine dei Dottori Commercialisti di Milano) and a Registered Auditor at the Ministry of Justice of Italy (Revisore Legale). He has lectured at several turnaround management university courses. An Italian national, he is fluent in English and Italian.
