Dominic Orchard is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in London. He brings more than 17 years of experience working in both private equity and professional services. He specialises in carve-outs and post-merger integration situations, as well as providing operational due diligence, in industries, including industrial manufacturing, consumer, financial services and business services.

Most recently Mr. Orchard led the carve-out of Advent’s €3.25 billion acquisition of the Distributed Power business out of General Electric. Headquartered in Austria, the target had c.€1.5 billion of revenue (2017) and operations in more than 30 countries, with 3 manufacturing locations and c.3,500 FTEs. Mr. Orchard led the buy-side carve-out activities in preparation for Day 1, including TSA development, TSA cutover plans, and development of the Day 1 organisation and operating model.

Mr. Orchard previously supported the operational due diligence and carve-out assessment in KKR’s €6.8 billion acquisition of the Spreads business out of Unilever. The target had €2.9 billion of revenue with operations in more than 60 countries, 112 brands, 17 manufacturing locations and c.3,800 FTEs. Mr. Orchard led the organisation design and development of a Day 1, and end state, operating model for a standalone business.

Mr. Orchard led the merger integration planning, synergy and performance improvement identification, and implementation of two PE-backed groups, aiming to create the global leader in the testing and measurement equipment industry, with over $320 million of revenue, 750 staff, and joint-HQ’s in London and Los Angeles.

Mr. Orchard also led operations due diligence, IT, carve-out and synergies assessment of a global marine services group, operating in 54 countries with 670 staff. His work led to creating the market leader in global marine safety with nearly $600 million in revenue and 3,000 staff.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Orchard was a Partner at KPMG in Hong Kong and and the Chinese mainland, responsible for providing operational due diligence, carve-outs and post-merger integration services.

Prior to KPMG, Mr. Orchard was a Director with 3i Group Plc., in London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Mr. Orchard earned a master's degree in management and e-commerce from the University of London and a bachelor's degree in geography from the University of Southampton. He is a member of the Project Management Institute. He is a U.K. national and Hong Kong Permanent Resident holder.
