Andreas Schmitz is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Transaction Advisory Group in Frankfurt, Germany. Mr. Schmitz specializes in transaction advisory services and counsels private equity and corporate clients on domestic and cross-border buy-side and vendor due diligence, carve-out situations and in the preparation of closing accounts.

Mr. Schmitz brings more than 18 years of experience and has completed over 200 projects primarily focused in the manufacturing, chemical and retail sectors.  He has served as a project manager and key client contact for numerous vendor and buy-side due diligence transactions, ranging from €10 million to €10 billion, for financial investors and corporate buyers in Germany and internationally.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Schmitz was a director/senior at Deloitte & Touche in Frankfurt, New York and Düsseldorf. He led the acquisitions of Phoenix GmbH by Curtiss-Wright Corporation, the merger of Metro PCS with T-Mobile and the acquisition of Elster Group SE by Melrose Plc, among others. Mr. Schmitz has also been involved in  the divestments of Hussel Group and Christ Jewelry from Douglas Holding, an Advent International portfolio company.

Mr. Schmitz was a member of the Deloitte U.S. Desk in Germany supporting in-and-outbound cross-border transactions between Germany and the United States.  He also established a transaction services support team with Deloitte U.S.-India in Hyderabad, India. In New York, Mr. Schmitz served as a senior manager on the mergers and acquisitions team, where he led transactions for private equity clients and U.S. corporate clients.

Mr. Schmitz previously served as a manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Düsseldorf, where he advised on several due diligence teams providing buy and sell-side support mainly to listed German corporate clients.

Mr. Schmitz earned an MBA in taxation, international accounting and English from the University Passau in Germany. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Washington.
