Alvarez & Marsal Bolsters Global Transaction Advisory Capabilities in Germany
Firm appoints Ines Berger as Managing Director, in addition to four other new hires, to deepen footprint and offerings in Frankfurt
Frankfurt – Leading global professional services firm Alvarez and Marsal’s (A&M) Global Transaction Advisory Group (TAG) announces the appointment of Ines Berger as a Managing Director in the Frankfurt office. Mrs. Berger’s hire deepens the practice’s footprint in Germany and delivery of cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A) capabilities in the region and across EMEA.
Following on the April appointment of Hamburg-based Managing Director Hinrich Grunwaldt, Frankfurt-based Senior Director Andreas Frisch, and Paris-based Vadym Diablo, Mrs. Berger’s joining provides additional senior level talent in Europe to help clients manage complex transactions for creating value and driving change within Germany. Her hire aligns with the firm’s global network of boots-on-the-ground approach and marks the next phase of Global TAG’s strategic growth plan.
Mrs. Berger has more than twenty years of transaction experience in both private equity (PE) and corporate environments with her primary area of concentration in business services within the engineering and industrial sectors. Highly skilled in buy-and sell-side financial due diligence (FDD), she has extensive experience in leading complex national and international engagements, with a focus on mid-cap PE.
In addition to Mrs. Berger, the Global TAG team’s expansion in Frankfurt includes the recent appointment of Senior Director, Christina Bohl; Directors, Sandra Orf and Jan Ebert; and Manager, Bastian Belke.
Ms. Bohl brings more than 20 years of experience in transaction advisory services to A&M. Her primary areas of concentration are financial buy-side and vendor due diligence, and related transaction advisory services for private equity funds and strategic clients.
Paul Aversano, Managing Director and Global Practice Leader of A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group, said, “Ines’ appointment enhances our senior leadership capabilities in Germany complementing our global growth strategy and aligning with our operational heritage. Her appointment reflects the importance of inclusive diversity to both the firm and the PE industry, and provides us with another role model for our female team members across our European team.”
David Evans, Managing Director and European Practice Leader of A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group, said, “Building on our recent hires in Germany, Ines’ experience in delivering complex national and international transactions deepens our expertise in EMEA, and further expands our ability to provide best in class financial due diligence and support our clients in unlocking value across the lifecycle of each deal.”
Jϋrgen Zapf, Managing Director and Head of A&M’s German Transaction Advisory Group said, “As we expand our Global TAG footprint across Germany, Ines’ extensive buy-and sell-side FDD experience, particularly in the engineering sector, will augment our ability to help PE firms and corporates seeking actionable, effective results.”
Prior to joining A&M, Mrs. Berger most recently served as a Partner in Deloitte’s Financial Advisory team in Frankfurt, where she was a member of the Transaction Services Leadership team. Previously, she served with KPMG as a Partner within the Transaction Services team for six years, after spending over 14 years with Ernst & Young.
Mrs. Berger earned a degree in business administration from Freie Universität Berlin. She is a German Certified Public Accountant (Wirtschaftsprüfer) and a German Chartered Tax Advisor (Steuerberater).
