Frankfurt, Germany – Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), a leading global professional services firm, has expanded its Germany-based Transaction Advisory Group with three new appointments to the practice. Andreas Schmitz and Frank Morris join the firm’s new Frankfurt office as Senior Directors, and René Grein joins as a Director. 

The opening of A&M’s Frankfurt office last year complements the strength of its Benelux and UK Transaction Advisory Group teams and enhances the firm’s ability to serve the pan-European market’s complex transaction advisory, performance improvement and turnaround needs. The recent appointment of Messrs. Schmitz, Morris and Grein augments the Transaction Advisory Group’s capability to create client-centric solutions that address key challenges and concerns.

Jurgen Zapf, a Managing Director of A&M Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft and Head of the German Transaction Advisory Group, said, “Together, Andreas, Frank and René bring over 35 years of experience to A&M. Their significant knowledge will bolster our transaction advisory capabilities in the pan-European market and will help our clients address the spectrum of transaction issues that they face.” 

Mr. Schmitz brings more than 15 years’ experience advising private equity and corporate clients on domestic and cross-border buy-side and vendor due diligence, carve-out situations and in the preparation of closing accounts. He has completed over 120 projects, primarily in the manufacturing, chemical and retail sectors. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Schmitz was a Director and Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche in Frankfurt, New York and Düsseldorf. He previously served as a Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Morris has more than 15 years of experience advising private equity and corporate clients on domestic and cross-border buy and sell-side transactions and M&A related issues. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Morris was a Director at Deloitte & Touche GmbH, where he led a wide range of transaction advisory projects. He previously held roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers and an international pharmaceutical company.

Mr Grein has more than seven years’ experience advising clients on vendor due diligence, acquisition full deployment decisions and M&A. He has significant expertise resolving transaction and restructuring related issues, and has led projects across the healthcare, chemicals, manufacturing, technology and media and telecommunications sectors. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Grein served in a variety of roles at Deloitte & Touche GmbH in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. He previously served as an investment consultant in private wealth management at a German co-operative bank.
