Mairéad Warren de Búrca joins A&M to lead the firm’s indirect tax practice in the U.K.

London – Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC, an affiliate of leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), has appointed Mairéad Warren de Búrca as a Managing Director in its indirect tax team. Ms. Warren de Búrca will spearhead the value-added tax (VAT) practice in the U.K., strengthening the firm’s capabilities in mitigating indirect tax liabilities.

Ms. Warren de Búrca brings more than 20 years’ experience, having advised clients across all industry sectors on domestic and international VAT issues, insolvencies and corporate transactions. Her expertise ranges from advisory around VAT cash flow opportunities, restructuring, contingency planning and running the VAT for formal trading insolvencies.

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Warren de Búrca spent 16 years at EY as a VAT Executive Director, leading the firm’s VAT work around mergers and acquisitions and business restructurings and insolvencies as well as providing general VAT advisory services. Since 2006 she has specialised in private equity, corporate transactions, and restructuring and insolvency projects. During this time, she ran the VAT affairs for the Metronet businesses, in addition to VAT affairs on an EMEIA-wide basis for the Nortel group, to name a few.
