Hardship Distribution Guidance Issued by IRS

The IRS issued proposed regulations relating to hardship distributions from 401(k) plans. The new guidance implements changes to the 401(k) plan hardship provisions that were adopted as part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017 and the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018.

The proxy advisory firm Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) released updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on its policies on U.S. Compensation as well as U.S. Equity Compensation Plans. The updated guidance is effective for annual shareholder meetings occurring on or after February 1, 2019, which means that most calendar year filers will want to quickly get up to speed on these changes.
