The COVID-19 Crisis: Navigating and Advancing Charter Schools

COVID-19 has introduced extreme uncertainty into the future of public education institutions across the United States. With the economy in a steep decline, the majority of states have closed physical access to schools for the last few months of the ’19-’20 school year. There is little doubt that school budgets, operations, and instructional models will be significantly impacted next school year and beyond.

 

In the midst of these challenges, charter management organizations (CMOs) have the flexibility to respond to the short-term needs of their school communities. CMO leaders can take proactive steps today to reestablish financial, operational, and academic stability to their organizations and utilize available resources to meet the needs of students.
