• The new Managing Director brings more than 20 years of experience in the banking and insurance industry

Zurich, 18^th January 2024: Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Massimo Carassinu as a Managing Director in its Swiss Financial Services Industry (FSI) advisory practice.

Mr Carassinu is a specialist in devising and implementing market entry strategies. Working closely with Giuseppe (Beppe) Di Riso, Head of A&M’s FSI practice in Zurich, and David Edmonds, A&M’s Co-Head of Financial Industry Advisory Services (FIAS) and Global Portfolio Lead Advisory Services, he supports top-tier global companies in their business and digital transformation programmes.

Mr Carassinu said: “I’m passionate about helping internationally minded clients to deliver ambitious new market entry strategies; embark on effective digital transformation programmes; realise the value of AI to enhance their contract risk assessment operations; or develop effective new operating models. For more than 10 years before joining A&M, Mr Carassinu held several leadership positions in reinsurance and insurance at Swiss Re Group, including Digital Transformation Lead, Head Strategy and Transformation and CEO Group L&H business in Italy. Prior to that, he worked at McKinsey, where he developed business strategies and managed projects with large international financial institutions across geographical and cultural environments at the highest executive levels.

With a master’s degree in production management from Chalmers University of Technology and another in industrial engineering and management from Politecnico University of Milan, Mr Carassinu is a fellow at MIT’s Chief Digital Officer professional programme. A dual citizen of Italy and Switzerland, he is fluent in Italian, English and German.
