ALVAREZ & MARSAL MARKS DECADE OF GROWTH IN SPAIN WITH ADDITION OF NEW SECTOR EXPERTISE
- A&M’s Spanish offices record sustained demand and headcount expansion as tax, insurance and corporate transformation practices come online to support clients.
Madrid, 13 November, 2024 – Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) marks a decade of providing services in Spain. The landmark in the firm’s strategic growth story comes as the firm’s Spanish offices launch three new offerings to meet growing client demand: Tax, Insurance and Corporate Transformation Services.
A&M has supported clients active in Spain across industries and sectors since 2014. The firm opened a Barcelona office in 2023, and facing sustained demand for its results-oriented services has recorded a fivefold increase in headcount in the past four years.
Alejandro González, Co-Country Head at A&M, noted: “2024 has been yet another successful year for A&M Spain. From exciting beginnings in Madrid a decade ago, we now represent A&M’s fourth-largest presence in Europe. Client demand for the ‘A&M differential’ – actionable results driven by senior expertise – continues to grow. Of course, meeting this demand depends on attracting the very best senior talent.”
Deepening the company’s roots in the country, A&M Spain has made several Managing Director appointments:
- A&M Tax Spain leader Ángel Calleja brings more than 35 years of experience in complex M&A deals and restructuring transactions, while A&M Tax Spain GTT leader Borja Escrivá de Romaní brings more than 30 years of experience in domestic and cross-border M&A transactions as a tax adviser. Together they establish the new local footprint of the firm’s global tax advisory practice.
- As co-lead of A&M’s expanding Travel, Hospitality and Leisure business in Europe, Jorge Gilabert drives strategic transformations for tourism and hospitality companies, from brand repositioning to comprehensive operational and balance sheet restructuring.
- José González is appointed to advise insurers on strategic decisions and creating customer value. He supports clients on risk-taking, investment, and service businesses, advising on partnerships, new business design and implementation, distribution models, data strategy, digital transformation, claims optimisation, and IT strategy.
Cristina Almeida, Co-Country Head at A&M, said: “We have seen so much growth and evolution over the past decade, but our commitment to supporting our clients remains as strong as ever. We provide actionable results across sectors – not only at times of distress, but whenever they want to grow and add value. Bringing on our global tax, corporate transformation and insurance capabilities to Spanish shores is the latest proof of this commitment. We’re delighted to welcome Ángel, Borja, Jorge and José to the team, all leaders in their fields.”
