Stockholm – Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) continues to expand its capabilities in Europe with the hiring of Kristoffer Ståhlbröst to lead the Restructuring practice in the Nordics.

The hiring of Mr. Ståhlbröst illustrates A&M’s continued commitment to solving complex problems and drive change for corporates and businesses across the region facing unprecedented challenges.

Mr. Ståhlbröst has over 20 years of experience specialising in advising creditors, shareholders, management teams and new investors in financially demanding situations to preserve value and maximise recoveries or returns.

Mr. Ståhlbröst has worked with clients across multiple industries and has led some of the largest recognised stressed and distressed public and private transactions in the Nordics and Continental Europe. His strong track record in developing and negotiating creative solutions for complex multi-stakeholder transactions will benefit A&M’s clients in the Nordics and internationally.

Before joining A&M, Mr. Ståhlbröst was a Partner and Nordic Leader for Corporate Finance (M&A, Restructuring, Valuation) at EY. He also has more than 12 years of investment banking experience, focusing on restructuring, leveraged finance, corporate finance and credit at various investment banks across Europe. Most recently, Mr. Ståhlbröst served as Head of Corporate Restructurings in the Nordics for a major European bank.

Mr. Ståhlbröst’s appointment aligns with the firm’s leadership, action results approach and dovetails with the recent hiring of Nordics-based Managing Directors Jonas Rickardsson and Dan Andersson to develop the financial restructuring and CRO services offerings. A&M currently offers restructuring, corporate transformation, private equity and transaction advisory services, from its offices in Stockholm and Oslo, to clients across the Nordics.

A&M’s Restructuring team in Europe has expanded across France, Switzerland and Spain in 2020. The recent hire of Managing Director Christian Ebner, based in London, will help focus on growing the financial restructuring practice on a pan-European level, with emphasis on situations involving Germany and Italy.
