New York, September 14, 2023 – Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has expanded its Construction Disputes offering with the appointment of Disputes and Investigations (DI) practice Managing Directors Mike Hostettler, based in Los Angeles, and Augusto Patmore, based in Toronto. Messrs. Hostettler’s and Patmore’s extensive and wide-ranging construction, engineering and real estate development disputes and investigations expertise underscores the firm’s commitment to law firm, real estate, engineering & construction, and infrastructure firm clients seeking to mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities.
Leveraging their more than six decades of experience, the new Managing Directors advise clients on construction and engineering disputes and provide varied and comprehensive expert testimony in construction and real estate litigation and arbitration. Their sector engagements solve for a wide range of operational matters spanning public works, commercial, multi-residential, and industrial developments, energy, high-tech and heavy industrial manufacturing, mining, transportation, health care, and environmental remediation. Cost and claims assessments, forensic investigations, process and risk review, program management, standard of care, construction methods and techniques, delay and quantum calculations, and productivity are among their specific core competencies.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Hostetler spent 12 years with Deloitte in the Risk and Financial Advisory Practice where he most recently served as Managing Director and a Global Leader for the Infrastructure & Capital Projects Practice.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Patmore spent 10 years as a Partner with KPMG’s Global Infrastructure practice in Toronto, most recently as Major Project Advisory (MPA) leader, and leader of Mining Infrastructure. Before that he was Managing Director, International Projects for tunneling contractor Obras Subterraneas S.A. (Ossa) and a Project Director, and Area Manager for various highway P3 projects with Ferrovial in Canada, and in Ireland.

Mr. Hostettler earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction Management from Purdue University and a JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry, the Construction Management Association of America, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International. Prior to his work in consulting he served as trial counsel, general counsel of a construction corporation, and as a government agency executive.
Mr. Patmore earned a MSc in Civil Engineering (ICCP) from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, an MBA from Imperial College London, and completed the McDonough School of Business Executive Leadership Program at Georgetown University. He has a Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) license, and is a member of the Imperial College Alumni Association, Civil Engineering College Spain, and the Canadian Nuclear Society. Mr. Patmore is fluent in Spanish and English.
