Ed Bignold is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Corporate Transformation Services in London.

He brings more than 10 years of experience leading operational restructurings, performance improvement programs, and advising on both pre-deal and post-deal M&As. Mr. Bignold has worked with clients across a range of industries including hospitality, healthcare, business-to-business services, financial services and manufacturing.

Recently at A&M, Mr. Bignold supported a Fortune 500 healthcare business to define a global cost transformation program that identified more than $300 million in sustainable cost reductions, primarily through headcount optimisation and underpinned by a series of commercial and operational ‘enablers’. Prior to this engagement, he supported a Fortune 20 medical devices business in an interim role to drive effectiveness across several major programs in the EMEA region, including large concurrent integration efforts.

Mr. Bignold also provides leadership in Europe to A&M’s clients in the hospitality sector. He has recently led a program to stand-up a new real estate and hospitality management company following a carve-out, led a financial assessment on a portfolio of c. 25 European hotels on behalf of a major European management company to establish the optimal future structure, led a downside scenario assessment of a large scale luxury resort development for a PE fund, conducted operational due diligence and a scalability assessment on a group of 14 fully owned and managed properties operating under their own brand across Europe and the U.S., and led the investment case for a >$100 million cost reduction programme for a leading global hotel group.

Mr. Bignold also brings significant experience leading post-merger integration and carve-out programs, most recently leading the integration of two of the largest utility services businesses in the U.K. He held direct accountability for defining the overall integration plan and embedding the integration organisation and governance. He was further retained by the client to oversee the initial and most complex portion of the integration implementation, which identified an additional 15% of synergy savings on the pre-deal commitment.

Mr. Bignold earned an MA with Honours from the University of Edinburgh.
