Tsuyoshi Kato is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Global Transaction Advisory Group in Tokyo. He has nearly 20 years of experience in transaction advisory services, specializing in financial due diligence and end‑to‑end deal support for both corporate clients and private equity funds.

Mr. Kato has extensive experience in buy‑side engagements, providing comprehensive support throughout the entire deal life cycle. His work includes financial due diligence, financial modeling, sale and purchase agreement (SPA) review, closing process support, and post‑closing accounting assistance. Mr. Kato’s commitment to staying engaged across all phases of a transaction enables clients to navigate complex issues with seasoned professional judgment. 

In sell‑side engagements, Mr. Kato has supported numerous successful divestitures through the preparation of carve‑out financial statements, identification and resolution of carve‑out issues, sell‑side financial due diligence, buyer’s Q&A coordination, SPA negotiation support, and closing assistance. His consistent, detail‑oriented approach has contributed to the smooth execution of many high‑profile transactions. 

Mr. Kato also brings significant international experience. During an 18-month assignment in San Jose, California, he was involved in a wide range of technology‑focused transactions, deepening his sector expertise and enhancing his ability to operate effectively in cross‑border environments. His experience encompasses a range of industries, including IT, automotive, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, healthcare, retail, construction, and real estate. 

Mr. Kato began his career in EY’s Audit practice before joining its Transaction Diligence group.  

Mr. Kato is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Japan.
