Thierry Wetzel is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Zurich. Mr. Wetzel specializes in the application of economics to provide evidence in competition investigations, litigation, and arbitration, with a particular focus on collective class actions. Mr. Wetzel also provides economic support on M&A's under scrutiny from competition regulators.

Mr. Wetzel has worked with clients across various industries, including digital, energy, financial services, healthcare, high-tech manufacturing, payments, retailing, telecoms, and transport. He regularly acts on behalf of both claimants and defendants.

Mr. Wetzel’s notable assignments include: four certified opt-in and opt-out collective actions on behalf of UK merchants (claimants); a supermarket chain's interchange claims (claimant); trucks litigations (defendants); lithium batteries litigation; and an Article 101 investigation into network sharing. He has also been involved in various merger proceedings.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Wetzel spent several years with Competition Economists Group (CEG), where he most recently served as Director and Head of the Zurich office. Previously, he worked with Oxera.

Mr. Wetzel earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and business economics from Utrecht University and a master’s degree in business economics from the University of Amsterdam, specializing in industrial organization, econometrics, and competition law. A Swiss national, Mr. Wetzel is fluent in German and English.
