Scott Jones is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in San Francisco. He co-leads the Software, Technology & Services practice.

With more than 20 years of consulting and industry experience, Mr. Jones has executed transformations across public companies and private equity portfolio companies. He has led due diligence for more than 100 transactions across the technology sector.

Mr. Jones’ notable engagements include implementing carve-outs from several fortune 50 technology and industrial companies on the buy-side for private equity buyers. He executed the successful take private of public companies in the software and services sector by supporting due diligence and value creation for activist investors and private equity funds. Mr. Jones also executed transformations at multiple enterprise software, semiconductor and hardware companies.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Jones was the TMT Strategy Practice Lead for KPMG, leading the firm’s offerings for M&A due diligence, integration and separation and corporate performance improvement. Previously, he also served as a Director on AlixPartners’ Enterprise Improvement team.

Prior to that, Mr. Jones worked with JPMorgan’s equity research team, covering the semiconductor, solar and hardware sectors.He began his career at Intel as a Senior Program Manager in the Enterprise Products Group.

Mr. Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Centenary College, an MBA from the Walton School of Business at the University of Arkansas, and a J.D. (focus on intellectual property and high-tech law) from the Santa Clara University School of Law. A member of the California Bar Association, Mr. Jones has published research and given keynote speeches on the semiconductor sector, technology M&A, autonomous vehicle adoption, and 3D and 2.5D process technology and compound semiconductor manufacturing.
