Robert Hershan is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Turnaround and Restructuring practice, based in New York. He brings more than 30 years of commercial and legal experience and deep expertise in managing complex transactions, with emphasis on financial and operational improvement.

Since joining A&M, Mr. Hershan has been actively participating in the firm’s Commercial Restructuring group for clients in manufacturing (Oreck Manufacturing Corp.), transportation (EoS Airlines), the financial industry (Lehman Brothers), higher education (Yeshiva University) and, most recently, language services and technology solutions (TransPerfect Global). In the higher education sector, Mr. Hershan led the firm’s engagement with Yeshiva University, developing and implementing financial, operational, and academic restructuring strategies for sustainability of the university, across four campuses in New York City, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In language services, he leads the Firm’s engagement as financial advisor to TransPerfect Global, assisting the court-appointed Custodian in decision making by the Custodian as a member of the client’s Board of Directors, including with respect to significant financial and operational matters, assistance in support of efforts to obtain audited financial statements and support in connection with the Custodian’s charge to implement the court-ordered sale of the Company.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Hershan was the president and managing director of TMA Finance, a privately held U.S. firm with affiliates in Belgium, France and Germany where he led a team that carried out multi-national market structuring and placement of institutional investments for cross-border, asset finance transactions based on commercial, tax, accounting and other regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions. Previously, Mr. Hershan was a senior vice president and tax counsel with D'Accord Incorporated, an investment bank specializing in domestic and international lease financings, where he organized and directed the firm's operations in Europe. Prior to joining D'Accord, Mr. Hershan practiced tax law with White & Case and Haight, Gardner, Poor & Havens in New York City.

Mr. Hershan earned his bachelor's degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his juris doctor from Fordham University School of Law.
