Paul Baldwin is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax, LLP in London. He specialises in advising companies, their lenders and other stakeholders on the tax implications of restructurings, financing transactions, divestments and acquisitions.

With 25 years of corporate tax experience, Mr. Baldwin is adept at working with local and international colleagues, specialists and advisers, to deliver advice and transactions in a timely, pragmatic and value-added manner. He has worked with clients across various industries, including retail, real estate, healthcare, service industries and manufacturing.

Mr. Baldwin’s notable assignments include advising the administrators of U.K. and global healthcare providers; structuring the lender-led acquisition of a U.K. based personal transport and courier business; handling the pre-acquisition restructuring of senior and shareholder debt relating to a landmark London hotel; and advising on the pre-sale restructuring and capitalisation of significant debts for two of the U.K.’s largest house builders, one of the U.K.’s leading gym groups, and a large U.K. mid-range hotel group.

Mr. Baldwin has also advised on the U.K. tax implications of refinancing and restructuring for several U.K-.based oil producers operating on the U.K. Continental Shelf and for multi-national oil and offshore services companies. He has handled independent business reviews for numerous stressed companies, undertaking a lead role on the taxation aspects of contingency planning projects that involve both diligence and structuring/advisory aspects.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Baldwin spent more than 10 years with the restructuring team at FTI Consulting in London, where he advised on M&A, international financing, corporate restructuring and formal insolvency projects and had the lead role in structuring a majority of the insolvency transactions.

Mr. Baldwin earned a master’s degree in civil engineering from Imperial College London. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
