Mark Schmidt is a Managing Director with Alvarez and Marsal Private Equity Services Operations Group in Seattle. He brings 15 years of experience in hands-on operations, manufacturing and supply chain performance improvement. Mr. Schmidt has an extensive value creation track record in pre-acquisition diligence and post-acquisition performance improvement.

Mr. Schmidt’s areas of expertise include new product introduction/commercialization, sales and operations planning, engineering, COGS cost improvement and footprint optimization in manufacturing environments. He has worked with clients in various industries, including medical device, pharmaceutical, heavy equipment/vehicle, aerospace, food/nutraceuticals, labels and packaging solutions.

Mr. Schmidt’s operational performance improvement engagements include managing post-acquisition continuous improvement, new product introduction performance improvement and cold chain storage and distribution expansion for a ~$700 million global clinical and commercial packaging and CDMO leader. He supported labor productivity improvement and capacity expansion for +$4 billion custom engineered-to-order/configure-to-order datacenter HVAC thermal equipment production company, leading a 41 percent increase in revenue growth at a newly acquired business unit.

Mr. Schmidt’s operations due diligence engagements include identifying ~$55 million in savings opportunities through footprint consolidation and productivity improvement across 29 sites for a $2.6 billion global electric distribution equipment business. He led manufacturing diligence for a +$500 million pool products company that identified ~$60 million in savings, synergies and one-time improvements.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Schmidt served as VP of Operations and Plant Manager for a plastics molder and assembler that supplied the healthcare and heavy truck/equipment industries.

Mr. Schmidt earned a bachelor’s degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the George Washington University, where he was a University Fellow.
