Kristi Plotner is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Public Sector Services in Houstan, Texas. She specializes in public health and human services. Her primary areas of concentration are Medicaid, behavioral health, child welfare and managed care.

Ms. Plotner’s notable assignments include serving as Medicaid Office Director for 20 years, Deputy Director of Child Protection Services, Executive Director of the MS Physician Health Program and Behavioral Health Executive Director at Optum. During her time in state government, she was responsible for developing state plan amendments, administrative code and grants to improve services available to Mississippians. She brought innovative programs to the state, which changed the expectation of service provision to better serve people accessing services.

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Plotner spent more than two years with Optum Behavioral Health in Jackson, Mississippi, where she most recently served as Behavioral Health Executive Director for United Healthcare Mississippi Healthplan. She improved relationships between the health plan and the Division of Medicaid; served as a thought leader and partner; elevated the status of the health plan; brought innovations and grant funding into the market; and provided seamless support to providers when major changes were made in the mental health system.

Ms. Plotner earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and English from the University of Miami and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a Licensed Certified Social Worker; a member of the National Association of Social Workers; formerly served as Board Chair of the MS Board of Examiners for Social Work and Marriage & Family Therapists, Finance Chair for St. Matthew’s UMC and Treasurer for Felder Campground Association; and is a continued supporter of children who have been touched by the foster care system.
