Kimberly Russell is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Valuation Services in New York. She specializes in providing valuation opinions for a variety of purposes including solvency, fairness and other transaction related opinions, as well as financial reporting, tax planning and compliance, bankruptcy and litigation support. Her main focus has been valuation of businesses and businesses interests including business enterprise, common equity, preferred stock, stock options, debt securities and other liabilities.

Ms. Russell has worked with clients across various industries including media and entertainment, financial services, pharmaceuticals, business services, insurance brokerage, wholesale distribution and industrial products.

Ms. Russell also has expertise with financial analyses in the context of solvency and fairness opinions. Specifically, she has provided solvency opinions on some of the largest leveraged buy-outs in the U.S. as well as fairness opinions in the context of going private, related-party transactions and fund-to-fund transactions. Notable engagements include a solvency opinion for a multi-billion dollar leveraged buy-out of a transaction processing company and fairness opinion for a real estate development company in the context of a going private transaction.

Ms. Russell performs valuations for tax purposes relating to valuation of legal entities and assets as part of internal tax reorganizations and spin offs, transfers of intellectual property, transaction allocations for IRC Sections 338 and 1060, and net operating loss limitation analyses. Additionally, she has valued businesses and a diverse array of acquired assets for financial reporting purposes. Notable engagements include a valuation of a multinational music publishing company for financial reporting purposes and the valuation of multiple legal entities of a technology company related to a tax-free spin-off transaction.

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Russell spent 10 years with American Appraisal in New York, where she most recently served as the head of the Financial Valuation Group for that office. In this role, she managed the company's financial valuation consulting professionals  and performed a variety valuations and provided fairness and solvency opinions. Previously, she was a Manager in the Valuation Services Group at Arthur Andersen.

Ms. Russell earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from DePaul University in Chicago an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University. She is a member of the American Society of Appraisers. Ms. Russell has co-authored articles on solvency and fairness opinions, and has presented to financial organizations on topics related to valuation of businesses and intangible assets.
