He has worked with multinational corporate and private equity clients on audits and financial diligence projects involving both public and private companies.
Mr. Nanus advises clients on leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations, supporting purchase price adjustments and purchase accounting. Additionally, Mr. Nanus has extensive experience working directly with senior executives at his client’s portfolio companies post-acquisition relating to research of accounting issues and application of accounting policies, cost accounting / profitability analyses, preparation of financial statements and related footnotes, forensic accounting studies, and overall assistance through transaction process for add-on acquisitions. He brings extensive experience in analyzing quality of earnings and cash flows, quality of net assets, working capital requirements and trends, and analyzing stand-alone costs associated with carve-out acquisitions.
He has extensive transaction advisory experience, serving clients in a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, media and entertainment, communications, software / information technology, energy, and healthcare. He has coordinated and led over 110 financial accounting due diligence projects since 2005.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Nanus was a Vice President with the Transaction Advisory Services / Due Diligence practice of Duff & Phelps in New York. Mr. Nanus began his career with the Information, Communication and Entertainment group in the Audit practice of KPMG, LLP in New York where he focused primarily on the media and entertainment industry. His audit clients included various multi-national record labels, cable operators and direct marketing companies.
Mr. Nanus earned his bachelor's degree in applied economics and management from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
