Geng Wu is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Transformation Services in Munich. He brings 15 years of experience in consulting and industry leadership roles, focusing on commercial margin recovery, performance improvements and turnarounds in operations and procurement.

Mr. Wu has worked with clients and as a senior executive across the automotive industry (OEMs and suppliers) and adjacent industries.

Recently, Mr. Wu led several claim management projects for automotive clients, conducted holistic procurement optimization projects, and implemented supply chain readiness programs for new product development in the industrial sector. He also supported CDD, FDD, and ODD projects related to the automotive industry.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Wu was a Senior Vice President at Volkswagen Group, where he had the line responsibility for the procurement central functions including negotiation center, cost engineering, procurement steering, governance & HR, digitization, strategy and PMT. In this role, he helped Volkswagen cope with global raw material and energy price increases while realizing material cost savings. Mr. Wu also led a two-year strategic and operative procurement transformation program and led global taskforces, including the Ukraine taskforce that worked to secure supply during the Russia-Ukraine war.

Prior to that, Mr. Wu served as Partner at Volkswagen Consulting and Junior Partner at McKinsey & Company. He focused on P&L-relevant operations projects and large-scale performance transformations for automotive OEMs and suppliers such as a large-scale turnaround program at a multibillion Tier 1 automotive supplier. In total, Mr. Wu has conducted 10+ large-scale performance and transformation programs during his years as a consultant.

Mr. Wu earned a master’s degree (strategy and international management) from the University of St. Gallen and a Ph.D. in technology and sustainability from ETH Zurich. A German national, Mr. Wu is fluent in German, Chinese and English.
