Mr. Martinez primarily advises multi-state clients on various state and local tax matters, including income/franchise, sales and use tax and property tax matters.
With more than 14 years of tax experience, Mr. Martinez has advised companies throughout the United States in a variety of industries, including financial services, real estate, telecommunications and electric utilities. Mr. Martinez has also collaborated with clients on various state matters such as the identification of tax saving opportunities, determining taxability of transactions, tax planning strategies and audit representation.
He has participated in multiple large scale state and local tax compliance preparation and review engagements for private and publicly held corporations. Mr. Martinez has experience in the review of state tax provisions and disclosures in accordance with ASC 740 (FAS 109) and ASC 450 (FAS 5).
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Martinez spent two years at Berkowitz Dick Pollack & Brant, where he provided consulting and compliance services to closely-held businesses, high net-worth individuals and pass-through entities. Mr. Martinez also spend one year as a Senior State Tax Manager at Interval International, Inc.
Mr. Martinez earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with concentrations in accounting and in business management, from Barry University. Mr. Martinez earned a master’s degree in taxation from Florida International University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Martinez is fluent in English and Spanish.
