Ed Manning is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Restructuring in London. He has over 20 years of experience in finance, turnaround, and restructuring roles, focusing on company-side engagements in stressed and distressed companies.

Mr. Manning has worked with clients across a range of industries, including IT, oil and gas, engineering services, heavy industrials, consumer products and commodities, business services, and manufacturing.

Mr. Manning’s notable assignments include: acting as interim Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Chief Operating Officer (COO); providing financial and operational restructuring advisory and execution services; supporting cash and working capital enhancement and solvent winddowns; preparing and validating business plans; and providing contract and independent business reviews. He works cross-functionally to create value in distressed situations by combining professionals with restructuring, operational, and technology/AI expertise.

Mr. Manning’s recent roles include: acting as board member and interim CFO of EnerMech, where he led the business through a debt-for-equity swap, period of distress, and subsequent operational restructuring; acting as board member of a global energy services data acquisition company through its turnaround and governance rebuild; leading the value creation and operational plans for lenders ahead of them taking control of a distressed Europe-wide consumer manufacturing business; advising the board of Odeon through COVID-19, including acting as interim CFO at Bollé Brands Group during its carve-out from its former owner and subsequent operational turnaround; and acting as operational restructuring advisor to urgently drive liquidity improvement at a UK-based steel long products producer.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Manning worked in the restructuring teams at KPMG and FTI Consulting. Before that, he cofounded a boutique debtor restructuring advisory firm, during which time he served as Restructuring Advisor at Industrial Chemicals Ltd and Group Restructuring Manager at iSoft. Previously, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant at EY, working in audit and M&A advisory teams.

Mr. Manning earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Durham University. He is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS). Mr. Manning also has a diploma in board directorship from the Institute of Directors.
