Christian Ebner

Mr. Ebner’s primary areas of concentration are complex cross-border restructurings, refinancings and reorganisations. He often works on matters that link the London market with either Germany or Italy, but has worked in many other jurisdictions. He also has wide experience in sub-sovereign restructurings across a range of jurisdictions.
Mr. Ebner has advised creditors (banks and funds) and borrowers across the spectrum of the capital structure, including RCF/term debt and guarantees, SSNs, SUNs, Schuldscheine and securitisations. He has worked with clients across a range of industries, including manufacturing and industrials, automotive, transport, real estate, shipping, retail, construction, business services, gaming, infrastructure and renewables, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, leisure and financials.
Prior to joining A&M, Christian spent seven years with Deloitte’s Big Ticket Restructuring Advisory team, serving most recently as Partner. While there, he built a leading cross-border advisory practice working on some of the highest-profile German and Italian restructurings of recent years, including the 2019 restructuring of Galapagos, the 2017 recapitalisation and 2020 restructuring and debt-equity swap of Bartec, and the 2018 recapitalisation of Italian tyre manufacturer Prometheon.
Prior to that, Mr. Ebner spent more than six years with Rothschild, where he worked on the M&A, Restructuring and Debt Advisory teams and advised on landmark restructurings such as Autodistribution (the first French pre-pack ‘sauvegarde’), McCarthy and Stone and the debt/equity swap of Gala Coral.
Mr. Ebner earned a bachelor’s degree in history and economics from the University of Oxford, followed by a master’s degree (Diplôme Grande École) in economics and management from H.E.C. Paris. Throughout his studies, Mr. Ebner was a scholar of the German Academic Scholarship program (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes). A German national, he is fluent in English, German, Italian and French.
