Ashwin Iyengar is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement practice in London. He brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in advisory and interim roles for large technology programs, due diligence, carve-outs and cost reduction initiatives.

Mr. Iyengar has worked on 40+ transactions for large and mid-market PE funds, leveraging his operational experience to provide pragmatic insights on the business technology lifecycle, investments and value creation. He focuses on due diligence, interim roles, performance and value creation, technology strategy, separations, and merger integrations. Mr. Iyengar has worked with clients in various industries, including technology, leisure, financial services, retail, and manufacturing.

Mr. Iyengar’s extensive work in diligence and technology-enabled change includes helping a leading international transportation and leisure operator implement a $130 million cost reduction (20 percent of addressable cost base); driving cost reduction at a U.K. staffing business including technology-enabled cost reduction; separation and value creation planning for the potential acquisition of Kimberly-Clark tissues; and diligence of a European high-end gym operator as part of a bolt-on acquisition for David Lloyd Leisure.

Mr. Iyengar also handled the merger, synergy identification and subsequent implementation of over €60 million in synergies for a European postal operator; performed technology due diligence for a U.S. PE house as part of their acquisition of a U.K.-based roaming software provider; and managed separation and value creation planning for the potential acquisition of a European satellite/media business.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Iyengar was a Managing Director with a leading global consulting practice in London. He led the European technology team, focusing on due diligence and tech enabled value creation in Europe. Previously, Mr. Iyengar served as a technology lead for Deloitte across the U.S. and Europe.

Mr. Iyengar earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the National Institute of technology in Warangal, India and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. A U.K. national, he is fluent in English, Hindi and Tamil.
