Ajay Raina is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Services Operations Group. Mr. Raina has led successful EBITDA improvement engagements in the retail, consumer packaged goods, heavy industrial, automotive and real estate sectors.

Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, Mr. Raina worked at KPMG and A.T. Kearney, where he advised both private equity and strategic clients on top-line growth and operational improvement initiatives.

Mr. Raina’s recent clients experiences include: advising the CEO of privately owned educational distribution company on combining three existing business units with total revenues of $500 million, as well as developing a future state operating model for both customer-facing and support functions; advising executive leadership during the restructuring of U.S. operations for a multibillion real estate investment trust, developing specific initiatives for improving near and long-term operating margins, and analyzing property portfolio to identify a disposal pool; developing go-forward store replenishment options for a Fortune 10 retailer based upon demand characteristics of products, resulting in an estimated opportunity of more than $100 million in inventory reduction and higher customer satisfaction levels; developing a footprint rationalization strategy for a private equity client during the buyout of a distressed regional grocery retailer using strategic, operational and demographic considerations; and advising executive leadership on improving category profitability for a leading outdoor sporting equipment manufacturer, resulting in a redesigned supply chain model and reduction in non-performing SKUs / categories, while increasing customer satisfaction and reducing inventory.

Mr. Raina earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) in Pilani, India, and a master’s degree in business administration from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
