Fabio Pires is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Latin America Transaction Advisory Group in Los Angeles. He heads the Global Transaction Advisory Group in Latin America. With more than 15 years of business and transaction experience, Mr. Pires specializes in leading both buy-side and sell-side financial accounting due diligence on behalf of both private equity and corporate acquirers across Latin America.
Mr. Pires’s industry expertise includes education, engineering and construction, manufacturing, industrial products, media and entertainment, and mining. He has extensive deal experience in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia, among other locations in Central and South America.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Pires was a Partner in Ernst & Young’s (“EY”) transaction advisory services practice based in São Paulo, Brazil. Mr. Pires was the leader of EY’s sell-side due diligence practice in Sao Paulo.
He began his professional career with Ernst & Young’s audit practice in San Francisco. He then transferred to the Miami transaction advisory practice to focus on cross-border engagements into Latin America. Following this role, Mr. Pires worked in the Los Angeles office where he further specialized in cross-border engagements. He also served Los Angeles private equity and corporate acquirers on U.S.-based engagements before relocating to São Paulo to serve these same clients transacting in Brazil.
Mr. Pires earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in international business and accounting from the University of San Francisco. He is fluent in Portuguese and English and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
