Software, Technology & Services (STS) Co-Leader, Scott Jones, is featured in the Wall Street Journal article “Biden, López Obrador, Trudeau Reach Deals on Chips, Climate, Immigration.” Leaders of the United States, Mexico and Canada met this week at the North American Leaders’ Summit to discuss bolstering the semiconductor industry in the region. With semiconductor companies investing and building new manufacturing facilities in the U.S., leaders would like to put parts of their supply chain in Mexico.
“Nearshoring is a specific consideration because of the trade agreements that are in place. That and the added bonus of lower labor rates…makes Mexico a very attractive option for putting certain parts of the semiconductor supply chain there,” said Scott Jones, A&M Managing Director and Co-Leader of its Software, Technology & Services group.
