Tony Woodhams is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Financial Services in the U.K. and leads the firm’s EMEA Capital Markets practice.
With over 30 years of sector experience, Mr. Woodhams' global teams provide specialist client support in high priority areas including: risk and regulation, technology implementation, data management, restructuring, performance improvement, financial and digital transformation, legal disputes and fraud investigations.
Mr. Woodhams works closely with senior executives, board members and their teams globally within some of the world's leading capital markets firms which include: investment banks, asset managers, funds, energy traders, financial brokers, exchanges and clearing houses.
Additionally, Mr. Woodhams is an experienced former fixed income trader and leverages his deep practical knowledge in helping clients navigate an evolving myriad of complex challenges, risks, regulations and commercial opportunities.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Woodhams led the Capital Markets data analytics practice at Deloitte, U.K. and prior held several senior interim roles in some of the world's largest investment banks.
Companies regularly use derivative products to hedge financial risks. Among products that are commonly used are interest rate swaps and foreign exchange derivatives. Interest rate swaps are typically used to hedge against interest risk from floating rate loans, effectively converting the floating interest rate into a fixed interest payment. Foreign exchange derivatives, on the other hand, are typically used by companies with operations in multiple countries to hedge their currency exposures.

Starting his career as a derivatives trader, before establishing his own fund, Tony’s three decades of capital markets experience will be invaluable as A&M continues to grow its practice across EMEA.
Tony will be responsible for leading A&M specialist teams to provide a complimentary range of client support services to financial services and trading clients in areas including risk and regulation, financial transformation, conduct issues and investigations and digital transformation.
