Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Tony Woodhams to lead the firm’s EMEA Capital Markets practice. Tony was previously Head of Capital Markets, Analytics at Deloitte and brings over 30 years of sector experience. 

Mr. Woodhams’ appointment further strengthens A&M’s Financial Services and broader EMEA practice. He has joined the firm to lead A&M specialist teams to provide a complimentary range of specialist client support services to financial services and trading clients in areas including: risk and regulation, financial transformation, conduct issues and investigations and digital transformation. 

This latest hire follows several senior appointments to A&M’s Financial Services practice in Europe. Earlier this month, A&M announced the appointment of Adrian Walker, the former Group Chief Investment Officer of Lloyds Banking Group as Senior Adviser. In April this year, A&M announced it had hired Rav Hayer, Faisal Ahmad and Ian Foottit as Managing Directors, strengthening the digital banking, payments, data and intelligence offerings.

Mr. Woodhams began his career as a derivatives trader at Cargill Group US in the City of London, before establishing his own fund in the mid 90s, specializing in interest rate derivatives and government bond trading. In 2013, he joined KPMG to lead the newly-formed “Trading Risk Solutions Group”. 

Mr Woodhams has held senior interim roles in some of the world’s largest investment banks including; Credit Suisse, HSBC Markets and Morgan Stanley where he interim led the firms Markets Surveillance and Regulatory risk team in EMEA. 

In 2016, Mr. Woodhams was appointed Head of Capital Markets, Analytics for Deloitte UK, where he led global teams including; data scientists, risk and regulatory professionals, quants and former traders to support the firm’s clients across the global financial services sector.
