IES SLDS Grant Considerations: Interoperability and Infrastructure
As state education agencies look to build out their longitudinal data systems (SLDS), interoperability and data linking remain major barriers to effectively acquiring, integrating, and leveraging new data sets that can provide the insights they need to improve education outcomes. The 2023 IES grant program focused on Interoperability and Infrastructure provides states with an opportunity to rethink their SLDS architecture and make infrastructure investments that align with a more modern data pipeline, better able to transform data.
This paper is part of a series drafted in collaboration between Alvarez & Marsal Public Sector, LLC and the Council of Chief State School Officers in the interest of highlighting strategic considerations for state education agencies pursuing 2023 state longitudinal data system grants from the US Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences.
