Chris Sherman Discusses the Commercial Aerospace Parts Opportunity in PitchBook Feature

As commercial aerospace parts remain supply-constrained and supply chains continue to evolve, Chris Sherman, Director in A&M’s Private Equity Performance Improvement practice, shares where investment opportunity is concentrating and what value creation looks like in today’s market.

In PitchBook Analyst Note: The Commercial Aerospace Parts Opportunity, the report reviews sector fundamentals, deal activity, and the private equity playbook shaping investment decisions.

“...we continue to see attractive investment opportunities in bottleneck subsectors such as castings/forgings, engine/component MRO, and, after a long post‑pandemic recovery, aircraft interiors. Deal flow is tilting to smaller, focused bolt-ons that add capacity and resilience.” Chris states.

Chris also notes that investors can drive value by relieving original equipment (OE) chokepoints and scaling used serviceable material (USM), parts manufacturer approval (PMA), and independent engine and component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) in the aftermarket. He adds that reshoring and friendshoring are making flexible footprints a growing strategic advantage across the aerospace value chain.

Overall, the commercial aerospace parts opportunity is increasingly defined by where constraints sit and who can move fastest to solve them. Read the full report to explore the deal activity, subsector dynamics, and value creation themes highlighted in PitchBook’s analyst note.
