Margaret Critzer Joins as a Bay Area Senior Advisor

San Jose – Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC, an affiliate of leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), has bolstered its Bay Area presence with the appointment of transfer pricing expert Margaret Critzer who joins as a Senior Advisor in the San Jose office.

Ms. Critzer brings more than 20 years of experience counselling clients on strategic and operational transfer pricing initiatives. Additionally, she adds global business structuring and corporate accounting services.

“Vast uncertainties surrounding potential changes to the United States tax code, as well as recent developments in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which is working to standardize transfer pricing by adding guidelines, are posing complex questions and challenges to companies,” said Marc Alms, Managing Director, Alvarez & Marsal Taxand in New York. “Margaret’s particular expertise in planning for intangibles and other issues faced by high-growth tech companies is critical for addressing our clients’ needs in this rapidly evolving regulatory environment.”

Ms. Critzer has advised companies in the bilateral and unilateral Advance Pricing Agreement (APA) applications and audit defense, and has developed business infrastructure to mitigate risk from a tax and operational standpoint. She has also assembled legal entities, managed global audits, filed foreign tax returns and maintained document libraries.

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Critzer served as Director of Global Business Services at Stanford University where she oversaw a range of international activities requiring tax administration. Prior to that, she was a Transfer Pricing Consultant to Apple. Ms. Critzer also served as a Principal and Partner-in-charge at KPMG where she was responsible for the company’s Silicon Valley transfer pricing team.

Ms. Critzer earned a bachelor of science degree from Menlo College and a master’s degree in business administration from San Jose State University. She is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
