New Managing Directors in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and South Korea; Singapore office launched to meet growing client demand
Hong Kong – Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has bolstered its offerings across Asia with three senior hires in the region and the opening of an office in Singapore. These additions reflect A&M’s commitment to helping clients across Asia drive change and create value.
The appointments of State Shi in the Chinese mainland, Myung Chul "MC" Kim in Korea and Paul Forgue in Hong Kong enhance A&M’s core regional offerings and ability to address clients’ increasingly complex performance improvement, restructuring and tax challenges.
Mr. Shi has joined as Managing Director and Head of A&M’s Asia Tax practice. With more than 12 years of experience in international taxation and business advisory assistance in Asia, the U.S. and Australia, Mr. Shi has advised multinational, private equity and domestic clients on merger and acquisition (M&A) tax-related issues. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Shi spent more than 12 years with KPMG in China, Australia and the U.S. as an M&A Tax Partner and Lead Tax Partner of the Chinese technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sector team.
Mr. Kim will serve as Managing Director and Head of A&M’s Korea office. He will lead local and regional efforts to help Korean clients realize the potential of their businesses and assets. Mr. Kim has more than 20 years of experience working across Asia, managing companies and driving performance improvement programs. Immediately prior to joining A&M, he spent four years in senior management roles with Hyundai Group.
Mr. Forgue re-joins the firm as a Managing Director in Hong Kong and brings extensive experience in operational turnarounds and financial restructuring, having worked across multiple industry sectors in the U.S., China and Southeast Asia. He has spent more than 20 years providing advisory services and also recently served as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Truett-Hurst, a California-based NASDAQ-listed winery.
In addition, A&M has opened an office in Singapore’s Marina Bay Financial Centre, which will be overseen by Thomas Dillenseger, an A&M Asia veteran. It will serve Southeast Asia-based clients seeking hands-on operational expertise in support of their businesses, as well as global companies with operations in the region.
