Tzai Ming Pok is an Executive Director and Head of Restructuring with Alvarez & Marsal’s Restructuring practice in Kuala Lumpur. He focuses on complex debt restructuring, distressed and turnaround advisory, short-term crisis stabilization, stakeholder management and negotiations with creditors and banks.

With more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Pok has worked with a range of clients including Bursa-listed companies in Malaysia and FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies in the U.K. In the last five years, he has been involved in complex debt restructuring of distressed corporates with a total aggregate debt of $1 billion.

Mr. Pok has worked with clients across various industries, including oil and gas, shipping, sub-prime lending, media, property development and construction.

Mr. Pok’s recent notable engagements include the successful negotiations and restructuring of a Bursa-listed shipping company with debts of ~$60 million, involving close to 200 creditors. Previously, he worked on debt restructuring of a media streaming company with debt of ~$450 million. He was also involved in a debt advisory and complex debt restructuring work for a Bursa-listed manufacturing company, negotiating with multi-banks to preserve close to $100 million working capital facilities for the client and restructuring the remaining $50 million debt.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Pok spent 20 years with EY, serving most recently as Senior Executive Director and Head of the Restructuring Advisory team in Malaysia, focused on financial restructuring and corporate turnarounds. During that period, he spent six years with EY London working on restructuring mandates related to the 2008 global financial crisis.

Mr. Pok earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
