Mr. Simion has worked with clients across a wide range of industries, including automotive, home building, stored energy devices, commercial landscaping and residential mortgage servicing. With more than 15 years of operations and finance experience, Mr. Simion has advised on numerous manufacturing location expansions and various profit improvement initiatives in both the automotive supplier and consumer products industries.
Mr. Simion's recent engagements include providing turnaround and restructuring advisory services to Exide Technologies, a $2.7 billion lead acid battery manufacturer and distributor, which filed for bankruptcy protection in June 2013 and emerged April 2015. Prior to emergence, Mr. Simion's primary responsibilities included leading development and ongoing monitoring of a 13-week cash flow model, communications with financial advisors to the various creditors and other stakeholders, preparation for the debtors' chapter 11 filing and a five-year business plan.
Mr. Simion's prior experience includes providing advisory services to A123 Systems, a lithium-ion battery manufacturer, and holding an interim management position as the Vice President of Treasury and Financial Planning and Reporting for a $250 million architectural and landscaping company.
He served in an interim management position as a Plant Controller at Meridian Light Weight Technologies and in debtor advisory roles with Champion Enterprises, Inc. and TI Automotive. Mr. Simion also provided creditor advisory services for the Debtor-in-Possession (DIP) lender bank group of Delphi Corporation.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Simion was the North America Controller for the Engine Cooling Division of Behr Industries and a Plant Controller at Guardian Industries, a global glass company. Previously, he had multiple roles in operations and finance for the Nonwovens Division of Kimberly-Clark Corp.
Mr. Simion earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Michigan Technological University and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Wake Forest University, Babcock School of Management. He is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) and a member of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA), Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
