Tom Kim is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Philadelphia. He is part of the Shareholder Activism and Contested M&A practice and specializes in working with companies to develop and implement strategies designed to maximize shareholder value. His primary areas of concentration comprise company valuations, business improvement and transformation, and capital management.

With more than 30 years of advisory and financial services experience, Mr. Kim assists corporate executives and private equity investors with strategic, financial, and operational matters. He is proficient in creating budgets and forecasting, performing financial planning and analysis, and delivering managerial cost accounting. During his career, Mr. Kim has spent 12 years in Asia, which allows him to bring a distinctive perspective and unique insights to help clients solve complex problems. He works with clients across various industries, including logistics, retail, and transportation (notably airlines, ports, and shipping).

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Kim spent two years with FTI Consulting, where he most recently served as Managing Director. Before that, Mr. Kim spent 16 years on Wall Street, including with Goldman Sachs, UBS, and Morgan Stanley, where he excelled in identifying companies that create shareholder value and accurately forecasting earnings, as determined by independent rating companies.

Mr. Kim earned a bachelor’s degree in hotel administration from Cornell University and a joint MS/MBA in accountancy from Northeastern University. He is the treasurer for Northwestern Alumni Association’s Philadelphia chapter and an advisor to the Philadelphia chapter of FOCUS, a faith-based organization that is committed to developing student leaders.
