Tom Caffyn
Most recently, Mr. Caffyn led several workstreams on an operational restructuring for a major global beauty brand, focusing on indirect cost reduction and working capital optimisation. The workstreams delivered an in-year cost reduction of €12 million, ~15% of the spend within six months, and €40+ million in cash improvements. Before that, he led the turnaround of a major listed logistics company, driving EBITDA improvements via a cost reduction programme and revenue optimisation.
Mr. Caffyn has taken on several interim roles, including Interim Chief of Staff for an FTSE 100 software company, directly supporting the Group CFO and COO to drive the transformation programme during a global merger process. The role also included undertaking a financial baselining exercise to understand the underlying performance of the business. He has also served as interim support for the finance function of an FTSE 100 aerospace and defence company, managing the 13-week cashflow forecasting model across multiple business units during COVID-19.
Mr. Caffyn was also involved in the financial and operational restructuring of a major African airline. He focused on the operational elements of the restructuring, primarily the retrenchment process required to significantly right-size the organisation and reduce the associated labour costs across multiple regions. He also defined the proposed organisational structure and cessation of selected loss-making routes to rapidly reduce the cash burn. Previously, Mr. Caffyn worked on the cash and working capital workstream for the restructuring programme of an FTSE 100 client, targeting the release of ~£500+ million of cash from working capital. He helped develop an analytics tool capable of analyzing millions of lines of transactional data to baseline current working capital performance and diagnose improvement potential.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Caffyn was a Senior Financial Analyst at Metapraxis Consulting, focusing on process improvement and data analytics. Earlier, he was an intern at AlixPartners, where he led company research using Bloomberg.
Mr. Caffyn earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Durham University. He is a Chartered Global Management Accountant.
