Timur Naizabekov

With more than 18 years of experience in finance, Mr. Naizabekov’s expertise spans asset management, private equity, real estate and commercial and investment banking.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Naizabekov was a Partner and Senior Investment Director at Sigma Capital for five years. He oversaw and led the origination, sourcing and structuring of private equity transactions in the telecom, energy and real estate sectors. He also had several independent non-executive director roles in blue chip companies, including Kazkommerts Securities, Kazakhtelecom and Kcell. Before that, Mr. Naizabekov served as a Chief Executive Officer at Estate Management Company, where he directed the increase of the assets under management by acquiring 15 commercial real estate assets valued at $300 million.
Previously, Mr. Naizabekov was the Managing Director — Head of Alternative Investments at National Investment Corporation (a sovereign wealth fund). He established and managed a $2 billion portfolio investment in private equity, hedge funds and real estate for the fund, and was also a member of the investment committee and executive board. Earlier, Mr. Naizabekov spent seven years at the National Bank of Kazakhstan as a fund manager, overseeing fixed-income and long-only equity portfolios of the central bank’s foreign exchange reserves and the National (oil) Fund assets and was responsible for strategic and tactical asset allocation.
Mr. Naizabekov earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics (with distinction) from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University; a master’s degree in management and finance from the University College London; and a master's degree in leadership and strategy (Alfred Sloan) from London Business School. He is a Central Asia, Mongolia, Caucasus and Afghanistan Fellow at the Donald Rumsfeld Foundation and a Central Eurasia Leadership Alliance Fellow. A Kazakh national, he is fluent in English, Kazakh and Russian.
